Five (Random) Questions is our short interview series in which we use a random question generator to ask your favorite artists weird questions. Today’s interview is with chart-topping hip-hop artist Jehry Robinson.
Who is your favorite teacher? Why?
Jehry: Mr. Alestra from Sachem East. He inspired me to write. He believed in me although I didn’t have the best grades; he always made me feel like I had talent. He was very strict, but he took it easy on me and helped me grow as a writer.
What’s something you believe in that most others don’t?
Jehry: I believe you don’t have to lock yourself in to one career. We are capable of doing many things. A career doesn’t define you.
Would you rather spend the day at an art, history, or science museum?
Jehry: I would rather spend the day in a history museum. History can repeat itself. I like to educate myself.
How should success be measured? By that measurement, who is the most successful person you know?
Jehry: I measure success by how often you get to do the things that make you happy. The CEO of Strange Music, Travis O’Guin, is the most successful person I know in this measurement. He has the ability to wake up and live how he chooses. He has built an empire and stayed true to himself. I am inspired by him on the daily.
Why do we dream?
Jehry: To give us an insight into a parallel subconscious world that does not exist. I like to dream while I’m awake. Dreaming also helps in manifesting our life dreams.
